I believe that the formula Challenge + Task + Solution = Success. The focus is on the client, giving them a voice in the process, ensuring we prioritize a “person first, technology second” mindset in providing services.

Together, we develop workflows that utilize technology and effective strategies to ensure access, enhance learning, and empower clients to achieve their academic, career, and personal goals.

Our Approach

We Take a Person 1st, Technology 2nd Approach

With Training and Support

Technology Training

I use a strengths-based approach to technology training

We’ll identify your strengths and discuss the challenges you have with completing the tasks that matter the most to you.

We’ll explore strategies & tools to leverage your strengths and develop skills to overcome challenges

Technology Evaluations

  • The evaluation is a collaborative process in which we identify your challenges, tasks, and any accessibility issues, as well as the specific settings or environments where these challenges occur.

  • Together, we will explore potential strategies and technology solutions and create an effective workflow to address these challenges and issues.

    • Having a framework can help reduce anxiety and be very empowering!

  • While I am your advocate, self-advocacy is an important aspect of a successful transition, especially when requesting the support services needed to reach your goals.

    • With guidance and support, you will develop self-advocacy skills that lead to increased self-confidence and boost your independence

An Overview of Assistive Technology

About Patrice

You could say that the ‘accommodations’ I can recommend are a ‘positive’ problem-solving approach towards addressing ‘barriers.’ But, if the world was more inclusive and thought about universal design on many more levels (ramps, working elevators, menus in accessible formats, accessible bathrooms, daily technology interfaces, etc.), businesses would shift toward student development for students with disabilities and away from determining the accommodations needed when a setting, environment, or the content is not accessible to persons with disabilities, even when they do have the technology they need.
— Patrice Wheeler
